you cannot leave
and have me too
i cannot exist in
two places at once
-when you ask if we can still be friends
Poem by rupi kaur
Friendship
If seeing you is like
the searing pinch of my heart
crushing my breath
If listening to you is like
stoking up a fire of anger
I can only burn myself on
If talking with you is like
a exercise in self-mutilation
a razor concealed at my wrists
Maybe, perhaps
it is okay to say
I don't want to be
your friend anymore
Maybe, perhaps
it is okay to say
my happiness can be
important here
Maybe, perhaps
it is okay to say
healing means forgiving
but not forgetting
